Robert Wayne Sutton
March 7, 1941 – March 2, 2025
Goldsboro-Robert Wayne Sutton, 83, peacefully passed away on March 2, 2025. Robert was born in Lenoir County to the late Laurice and Isabelle Worrell Sutton on March 7, 1941. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Peggy Sutton Edwards and Joan Sutton Lane.
For many years, Robert was owner and operator of Robert Sutton Motors in Goldsboro.
Sharing a beautiful life with his high school sweetheart and wife of 65 years, Rose, their life was centered around their family and Robert was fondly referred to as "Papa" by the whole crowd. Enjoying the beauty of nature, he spent much time in the yard alongside Rose, tending to the flowers and beds as he could, or sitting close by on the golf cart when he could no longer work alongside her.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at the Worrell Family Cemetery.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Rose Coker Sutton; daughters, Wanda Sutton Deans and husband, Timothy and Cathy Sutton; grandchildren, Jamie Sutton Larsen, Lindsay Deans, Jeremy Sutton and wife, Crystal, Blair Deans Byrnside and husband, Brendan, and Chad Sutton and wife, Stacy; great-grandchildren, Landon Sutton, Ava Larsen, Connor Sutton, Harper Sutton, Mabel Gray Byrnside, Amelia Byrnside, and Grayson and Finley Sutton; and his faithful canine companion, Grady.
