Robert G. Swope, Jr., age 82, of New Oxford entered God's eternal peace on December 10, 2025. He was a member of Annunciation BVM Catholic Church of McSherrystown.
Born September 6, 1943, he was the son of Robert G. Swope, Sr. and Theresa Plank.
Robert was a veteran of The United States Army. He served as Commander of Department of Pennsylvania Catholic War Veteran, Commander of Post 1342 Bonneauville, in which he was a lifetime member. Lifetime member of Littlestown Eagles, lifetime member of Hanover Home Association, and he belonged to Fairfield Amvets, Gettysburg American Legion, and McSherrystown Knights of Columbus.
Robert was the loving father of Tammy Lookenbill (Michael), Karen Paxton (Scott), Dennis Swope (Kristen), Tonya Swope (George), Michael Swope (Gina); stepdaughters Candy Holland (Thomas), and Tina Fowler; 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Connie Cole.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 12:00 at Catholic War Veterans Club, 28 Hickory Ave. Gettysburg, PA 17325. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
