Robert “Okey Dokey” Taff, 67, of Gulfport, MS passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in Gulfport.
Bob was born on June 8, 1957, in Washington, DC to Loren M. and Frances M. Taff. He was a long-term resident of Gulfport. He was a high school graduate. He participated in swimming competitions and cross-country running and received a Superhero Award for developing and distributing the world-famous Bob’s ranch salad dressing.
From a very early age, Bob showed interest in superheroes and their escapades and so began his career as “Super Bob” which followed him much to the delight of his adoring fans until that fateful day when he and superman had a falling out over a girl. So, at the age of 11, Bob switched gears and thought he’d try his hand at aerospace engineering. So, it only follows that he would conquer the medical field and become an integral part of St. Mary’s Hospital in Palm Beach, FL for several years. As if that weren’t enough, he then decided to further his career at Lookout 49 Restaurant in Gulfport. And during this time, he began developing his own line of salad dressing which became the absolute choice for both customers and coworkers and were placed on the menu, of course.
During his stint in high school, Bob excelled in the Army ROTC program. He was an avid sports fan. He followed the Minnesota Vikings, Washington Redskins of the NFL and in baseball, he loved the Cincinnati Reds and the minor league Biloxi Shuckers.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his siblings, Gary M. (Donna) Taff, Loryne M. (Shelly) Taff, Gerilynne Ogden, Julia M. (Roy) Carter, Jeanne M. (Darin) Tichenor and Karyn M. Streaker.
