64 of Closter, NJ. Passed on Feb 5, 2025. Survived by his mother Mary "Sylvia" Talmo and brothers Joseph (Ginny), Stephen (Sue), Christopher, Warren and Wayne (Michele). Beloved grandfather to Mila Rose Talmo. Loving nephew of Judith Talmo. Cherished uncle of 12 and great uncle of 4. Dear friend to Frank Marcos and Joan Marks. Predeceased by his son Robert C Talmo III in 2022 and his father Robert C Talmo Sr in 2023.
Bob was born in Englewood, NJ on November 21, 1960. He graduated from NVRHS – Demarest in 1979. He started working with his brother Joe at Windmill Hardware in Closter during high school. To say Bob loved the hardware business is an understatement. He spent a good part of his career at different hardware stores and loved to stock up on deals. Plus, he loved to talk about hardware to anyone who would listen. He also had his own retail store in Closter – "Different Things in Brass Elegance" in the late 80's. He sold anything brass – gift items, tables, frames and lamps.
Bob joined the Closter Fire Dept in 1978. In 1989, he made 100% of the department's fire calls, meetings, drills and clean-ups. He had a special pair of sneakers that he cut apart so he could just slip them on to get to the firehouse in record time. He was given a certificate from the Borough of Closter for achieving this goal which no one else had ever done.
Bob's pride and joy were his son, Bobby, and his granddaughter Mila Rose, whom he cherished deeply. In December 2020, Bobby became a father, and both he and Bob were filled with immense happiness as they embraced their new roles. Tragically, Bobby passed away unexpectedly in December 2022, leaving a profound void in Bob's heart. Bob's love for his son and granddaughter will forever remain eternal.
He loved to tell stories and make people laugh. Bob had a good heart and was quick to lend a hand to people in need. He was a big Yankee fan and was even in attendance at the game on July 4, 1983 when Dave Righetti pitched a no-hitter. Bob was also ahuge NY Giants fan. He loved to dine out and eat fine food – steak and seafood were among his favorites and he wasn't shy to a nightcap after dinner.
Memorial service at the Closter Elks, 148 Railroad Ave, Closter, NJ on Sunday, 2/16/25 from 1-5 pm. Donations to the Closter Vol Ambulance Corp. Arrangements by Moritz Funeral Home, Closter, NJ.
