WADESBORO – On Sunday, May 18, 2025, Mr. Robert Steve Tarlton, 75, loving and devoted husband, daddy, papa and friend passed away peacefully at Novant Matthews Medical Center in Matthews with his family at his bedside.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 22, 2025 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Tony High officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 6:00PM until 7:30PM Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the funeral home and other times at the home in the Deep Creek Community.
Steve was born Augst 19, 1949 in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late Robert Murrell Tarlton and the late Virginia Mae McQuage Tarlton. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War.
He worked for Biltmore Dairy for 16 years prior to their closing and following that he worked with Cuddy Farms, now Pilgram’s Pride for 35 years.
Steve enjoyed NASCAR, watching westerns on television, especially Gun Smoke and shooting the breeze with his family and friends. He was the neighborhood handyman and was always willing to help anyone out if called on.
He dearly loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Pam Moore Tarlton; his children, Jennifer Tarlton and John Tarlton (Tomi Matheson) both of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Gage Tarlton of Brooklyn, NY, Savannah Tarlton and Gavin Tarlton both of Wadesboro; his grandson of the heart, Jake Barbee (Kathryn) of Wadesboro; his brother, Murrell “Tinker” Tarlton of Rockingham; his nephew, Russell Lindsey (Bunk) of Chesterfield, SC and many friends who he loved like family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastview Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 274, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
