Robert Taylor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Frank J. Barone Funeral Home - Brooklyn on Dec. 30, 2025.
Eulogy for Robert Gordon Taylor
Today, we gather to remember and honor the life of Robert Gordon Taylor, a son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and friend. Robert was born on August 6, 1964, and though his life had its complexities, it was marked by faith, personality, humor, and meaningful connections.
Robert was the son of Frederick and Ionie Taylor, who raised him with strong values grounded in faith and discipline. He grew up in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and was baptized at an early age. The values taught by his parents remained with him throughout his life, and prayer continued to be important to him. He often encouraged others to pray early in the morning, a reminder many of us will always remember.
He grew up in Duhaney Park, Kingston, Jamaica, where his playful and energetic nature showed early. Robert attended Kingston College, and during those years he developed a deep interest in music and electronics, interests that shaped both his career and personal passions.
Robert was fun, playful, loving, and concerned for others. He had a light spirit and an easy sense of humor. One trait that captured his personality was his love for food, Robert was a true foodie. He loved to cook and enjoyed eating, often surprising people with his appetite despite his slim frame.
One story that perfectly reflects Robert's personality comes from his childhood. He was always busy and curious. One day, after sneaking outside when he was supposed to be indoors, his father caught him, turned him upside down, and shook out marbles and pennies from his pockets. It was done in humor, and the story became a long-standing family joke his siblings teased him about for years and one that still brings smiles today.
Robert's deepest and most consistent bond was with his family, especially as a brother. He shared an especially close relationship with his younger brother Donald, whose passing two years ago deeply affected him. That loss stayed with Robert, and it revealed the depth of his love and loyalty as a brother. He was known to care deeply for his siblings and extended family and would often try to help whenever he could.
Robert is survived by his children, Terryann Taylor, Andre Taylor, Tiffany Taylor, Yanique Joseph, Romich Taylor, and Zhanae Taylor; his grandchildren, Taylor Byfield, Tory Byfield, Cameron Taylor, Christian Taylor, Kaylee Campbell, Kyla Campbell, Zaire Tucker, and Ethan Green; his brothers, Lloyd Taylor, Sheldon Taylor, and Kelvin Taylor; his sister, Lorraine Taylor; and his nephews, Javon, Dionte, Daniel, and David.
Like many lives, Robert's journey was not without challenges. He made efforts toward reconciliation later in life, reflecting growth, reflection, and the desire for peace. His life reminds us that people are complex, and that love can exist alongside imperfection.
As we remember Robert today, may we hold on to his humor, his love for music, his generosity, his faith, and especially the way he showed up as a loving brother, family member, friend and father. May we remember him as someone who, in his own way, tried, learned, and left memories that will stay with us.
May his soul rest in peace.
