Robert Wayne Thorson, age 82, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife Marie and their children.

Born on August 10, 1943, to Carl and Frances Thorson, Robert lived a life defined by kindness, humility, and humor. After graduating from Alma High School, Robert served in the Army and held several roles before finding his longtime professional home at the Menomonie, WI Post Office. He spent many years there as a Rural Letter Carrier, a role from which he eventually retired.

Robert was a person of immense warmth who found joy in life's simple pleasures: reading a good book, golfing, and playing cards with his buddies. He was best known for his constant smile, his hearty handshake, and the laughter he shared with his family. His granddaughters often affectionately described him as "adorable."

Robert leaves behind a legacy of love and admiration that will be forever cherished by his wife, Marie; his children, Karen Bauer of Holcombe, WI, Douglas (Jennifer) Thorson of Elk Mound, WI, and Lora (Eric) Sinclair of Menomonie, WI; as well as 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Leigh (Ruth) Thorson of Janesville, WI, and his sister, Donna (Clarence) Castleberg of Mondovi, WI.

While our hearts are heavy, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul deeply loved.

Memorial Mass will be held 10:30AM Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 316 Fulton St, in Eau Claire. Rev. Michael Klos will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rock Falls with Military Honors provided by the Brackett American Legion Post #550. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00PM-7:00PM with a Prayer Service at 3:30PM at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
