Robert Tokarczyk Obituary

Robert C. "Bob" Tokarczyk, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, in Hinsdale, IL. Born on August 29, 1948, in Chicago, IL, Bob's life was a testament to the values of love, kindness, and selflessness. He was a beacon of strength and character to all who knew him, and his passing leaves a void in the hearts of many.

Bob's life was rich with the love of his family, foremost among them his soulmate and best friend, his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Tokarczyk (nee Bajgier). Together, they built a life filled with laughter, shared interests, and unwavering support for one another. Bob was a devoted father to his sons, Chris (Sheri) Tokarczyk and Craig Tokarczyk (fiancee Michelle Pesa). His grandchildren, Samantha (Collin) Thatcher, Rachel, Kevin, and Zachary Tokarczyk, and great-grandchildren, Eden Elizabeth and Theodore Martin Thatcher, will forever cherish memories of their loving "Grandpa Bob."

Bob's siblings, Shirley Tokarczyk and Ronald Tokarczyk, along with his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bellmore, shared in the joys and challenges of life with Bob, always finding in him a good son, brother, and confidant. He was the kind of man who would rush to the bedside of ailing loved ones, never failing to offer his presence and support.

A man of many passions, Bob reveled in the simple pleasures of life. He was an ardent Chicago White Sox fan, a skilled woodworker, and an avid gardener. His bowling skills were matched only by his dedication to the Boy Scouts of America. Bob found solace in the melodies of jazz, Motown, and the tunes of Chicago garage bands. He was also a lover of puzzles - whether Jeopardy or jigsaw. Traveling, celebrating Christmas, and savoring a glass of wine at summer concerts were among his favorite activities. Bob could often be found dancing in the kitchen or watching golf, reveling in the joy of each moment.

Family gatherings were sacred to Bob, particularly when they involved sharing a meal with his loved ones. He embraced the spirit of Oktoberfest and never missed an opportunity to crack a dad joke, lightening the hearts of those around him. His was a life lived with no regrets, and the strength of his heart, will, and morals were the strongest his family knew.

Bob's legacy is one of enduring love and unwavering character. As a proud Air Force Veteran from 1966-1970, he exhibited true love and honor of his country. He was the kind of person who put others before himself, a trait that defined his every action. His sons, inspired by their father's example, now live their lives with the same dedication to others.

As we reflect on Bob's life, we are reminded of the joy he brought to each of us. His laughter, his wisdom, and his love will be missed, but the memories he created will be treasured forever. Bob Tokarczyk's life was a beautiful journey that touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, but the love he gave so freely will continue to guide and inspire us all.

In honor of Bob's remarkable life, a visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 3:00 – 8:00 pm at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 10:00 am. A procession to Resurrection Cemetery will immediately follow the funeral service.
