Robert E. Tornquist, 61 of Maplewood, New Jersey passed away on June 7, 2023
The family will be receiving friends at Preston Funeral Home, 153 S. Orange Ave. South Orange, on June 16, from 12pm to 1pm, followed by a prayer service at 1pm.
Robert E. Tornquist, son of Edith Tornquist, was born on May 2, 1962 in Santiago, Chile. They both moved to New Jersey by the time Robert was six years old. After finishing public school, he attended New Jersey City University where he graduated in 1984.
Robert lived in Maplewood for the past 25 years and previously lived in Jersey City. He was an amazing accountant and worked at HSBC, and then worked as Vice President and Senior Controller for Royal Bank Of Canada in New York City for many years. He enjoyed big-game fishing, loved everything Star Trek and Star Wars, and for many years was an avid collector of original series comic books – mainly Marvel and DC.
Robert is survived by his wife Peggy and two sons Joseph and Matthew. He is also survived by his favorite cousin Soraya as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins in Chile. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandmother.
