Robert "Bob" Bruce Tucker, 87, of
Huntington, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, in comfort and surrounded by family. Bob lived the kind of life most men talk about and few actually pull off-one rooted in duty, consistency, faith, and showing up every single day.
Bob was a man of few words, but his life spoke fluently. He lived with devotion-to God, to his country, to Marshall football, and above all, to his family. He believed in doing what needed to be done, doing it right, and not asking for applause afterward.
Bob's story began in Huntington, where he was raised by his parents, Wilson and Maxine Tucker, alongside his brothers Richard, Tommy, and Billy, and his sister Linda. It was there he learned the values that would guide him for a lifetime-faith, loyalty, hard work, and the importance of family.
He shared 58 years of marriage with his loving, beautiful, and endlessly patient wife, Sharon. Together they raised three kind, capable, and successful children-Shandra (Gerhard), Brock (Shelly), and Jared (Keely). Bob was PawPaw to a pack of grandchildren who adored him: Elli Graf, Carson, Tyler, Nora, Gatlin, Amelia, and Delilah Tucker. His quiet strength, steady presence, and knowing smile shaped them all more than words ever could. And to his grandbabies, nothing made him quite as legendary as an occasional shared bowl of ice cream.
Bob served his country for more than 32 years through the U.S. Army, Army Reserves, and a long career with the Army Corps of Engineers as a controller. He also spent twelve years attending night school at Marshall University to earn his accounting degree-because quitting simply wasn't in his vocabulary.
A faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, Bob could be found most Sunday mornings at St. Paul Lutheran Church, offering prayer, praise, and presence-never flashy, always sincere.
Bob loved football-especially Marshall football. Fall Saturdays meant tailgating with the Herd. He coached his son's team. He refereed in the community. He believed in the game. It did, after all, take his two front teeth in high school.
He also loved Tootsie Rolls, black licorice, the Weather Channel, fishing at the beach with his kids, making beer, doing taxes (yes, really), playing cards, the Elks Club, hunting squirrels, chasing off cats, Elvis & Lionel Richie, fresh cut grass, golfing, shrimp and grits, and a good cup of black coffee-no cream, no nonsense.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers who gave Bob comfort and dignity in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Paul Lutheran Church in his name (https://stpaulhuntington.org/) - or to your local watering hole, where you are encouraged to tell your favorite Bob Tucker story to a friend or stranger.
