Robert (Bob) S. Tull
1959- 2025
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Robert "Bob" Tull, known to many simply as "Big Bob". Born on the roads in Denver in April 1959, Bob left us while on the road on the 19th of November 2025, leaving a void that can never be filled. With his departure, we remember a life lived with immense love, laughter and a constant sense of caring.
From a young age, Bob was known for his quick mind, deep curiosity, informed wit, and quiet kindness. He was a rambunctious child and would test boundaries, which often led to meeting new people and exploring new places. His family has always said that "Bob knew no strangers," and because of his adventurous and curious spirit he led a very full and dynamic life.
The stories of Bob's youth come in many forms, touching or reckless, but always funny. His school years were fraught with trials like anyone else, but they also had his unique personality intertwined in them. It was not easy for his younger sister or his daughters to follow him through the Englewood school system, as the teachers that knew Bob seemed to always have some kind of expectation about them when they learned they were related to him. He was fond of telling stories about "Doc" Gerardi, his high school band teacher and the director of entertainment of the Denver Broncos. Bob said Doc was the reason he stayed in school and graduated, and it was Doc's teachings that led to his love of music. He appreciated all music genres, and enjoyed exploring how they connected and influenced each other.
Bob could charm anyone because he genuinely cared about the person and the conversation he would have with them. This made him great at his various jobs in retail sales, starting in middle & high school with candy sales to fellow students. He then continued to The Liquor Barn, the Englewood Fish store, and finally Katzson Brothers, where he spent much of his career making the culture an inclusive and friendly place. Of course, this personality led to him becoming the sales rep for a very large area, requiring him to move and allowed him to follow his best friend, Pat, to Layton, Utah. In this role, he supported each of his customers in a friendly and helpful manner, always going the extra mile to help them succeed in their business.
Bob cared deeply about his family and friends, and he was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was passionate about his country and while he may have had an alternate view of the topic, he was willing to listen and debate the subject in a respectful manner.
Bob had a knack for fixing almost anything. His ability to just look at the mechanics and determine the issue was innate in him. This ability transferred to the kitchen, where he discovered a great pleasure in cooking while working at Northwoods Inn. This passion transferred to cooking for family, friends, family events, and later his community at the Layton Buddhist Temple. He had a great love of feeding people. It was how he gave a piece of himself to everyone.
While in Utah he became more in tune with his giving spirit and found a beautiful community at Temple that welcomed him and supported this growth. He found many great friends here, and met the second love of his life, Tanaporn, and married, becoming a well-known figure in his community. He had always believed that life was a journey, and that this journey had several stops on the road. That we don't live one life, but rather have a series of trips on the road of life, learning and enriching your soul along the way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest brother Stephen. Bob is survived by his wife Tanaporn Nawanon, brother Douglas, sister Sue, sister-in-law Susan, brother-in-law Timothy, his daughters Stephanie Tull and April (Zach Davis), as well as two nieces Aimee, and Erin, and five grandchildren; Alexzandria, Anastasia and Garrett Davis, and Liam and Ozzie Tull-Hall.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 30th 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT, 84403, with a viewing one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Wat Dhammagunaram Temple would be very much appreciated.
"Some travel physically to other places.
Others travel to places we can not reach physically.
Neither are completely gone from us.
We will meet again, just down the road
and visit like no time has passed."
April Davis
