Robert “Bob” Lee Urick, age 73, of Winfield, IL, passed away at home on October 19, 2025, after a long struggle with cancer. His loving wife, Barbara, son, Jimmy and brother, Johnny were by his side.
Bob was employed at Illinois Bell/Ameritech/SBC/AT&T for 47 years as an Information Technology Specialist. He was a very loyal employee, only missing work when he had surgery. He often times worked on a problem into the middle of the night and then got up at 5 AM to begin his commute to the next day’s work.
He was a health enthusiast, working out 4 + days every week beginning in his teens. He had a full gym in his basement which he enjoyed using, even after a long day at work.
He had 2 special interest groups which he cared for deeply. Veterans held a special place in his heart, and he took pride in being able to contribute to numerous veteran organizations. He also supported veterans by volunteering at the local VFW post. The other group which he was devoted to were the Native Americans. He felt they were treated terribly and wanted to help make restitution by contributing to funds.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; son, Jimmy (Kasia), grandchildren, Charlotte, Elliott and Nicalina, brother Johnny (Barbara) and several nieces and nephews.
