WORCESTER - Robert Vako, 83, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
Born in Progradec, Albania, Robert was the son of the late Kostaq and Dhorka (Gusho) Vako. Following his graduation from high school, Robert proudly served in the Albanian Armed Forces. For over 60 years, he dedicated his life to electrical and mechanical work, specializing in radios, a craft he deeply loved and mastered throughout his career.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Marika (Trendfili) Vako; his devoted daughters, Teuta Vasilika Simaku and her husband Bruno of Worcester, and Klodiana Marina Mitaras and her husband John of Holden. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Gjergji Simaku and his wife Klea, and his adored great-grandchild, Landon Simaku Ready.
Robert is also survived by two brothers in Albania, many nieces and nephews, several extended family members, and countless beloved friends in Albania and Greece. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Kristi Simaku, in 2020, and 4 brothers.
Robert found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, spending time at the lake, fishing, gardening, bottling his own wine, and watching soccer. Above all, he treasured every moment spent with his family, who were the heart of his life.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Saturday, November 8th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester.
