Robert Charles "Bob" Vandewalle, 94, passed away on March 15, 2026 in

Warrenton, VA. Bob was born October 29, 1931, in Cincinnati Ohio to Richard Carl

Vandewalle and Inez Kathryn (Shumm) Vandewalle.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1959 as a naval P2V aviator patrolling the

Atlantic Ocean for submarines. After serving in the Navy he returned home to

Cincinnati where he married his wife, Dorothea, and raised their three children. He

joined his father at Van Engineering in Delhi, Ohio, a machine shop that does design

and repair work for various local, national and international businesses along with

having produced parts for the Gemini space program. Bob was very proud to have

his son join the family business. Bob was an active member for many years of the

Price Hill Lion's Club and of the Delhi Business Association. He loved farming and

could be found on his farm in Rushville, Indiana with his family nearly every

weekend. He was an avid sailor, boater and skier.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Inez and Richard Vandewalle; sister,

Dorothea E. Cornett, and beloved wife Dorothea A. (Rohman) Vandewalle. He is

survived by his three children; Deanna (Mark) Child of Marshall, VA, Richard C.

(Cheryl) Vandewalle of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Lesa (Ed) Chang of Wexford, PA; seven

grandchildren – Rebecca (Udit Halder) Vandewalle, Matthew Dodds, Christian

(Jessica) Vandewalle, Hayley Dodds, Christopher (Anita Qualls) Chang, Luke

(Lindsay) Dodds, and Annika (Josh Goetz) Chang; and two great-grandchildren; Lyla

and Clara Vandewalle.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Bob will be interred next to his late

wife, Dorothea A. Vandewalle at Hillside Chapel in Cincinnati, Ohio.
