Jack Edward Kirk

Jack Edward Kirk, age 92, of Independence, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the 29th of March surrounded by his loving family.

Born on the 25th of May, 1933, in Benham KY, Jack lived a long and meaningful life rooted in service, family, and friendship with anyone he met. A proud veteran of the Korean War, he served honorably in the United States Marines.

During his service, he met and married the love of his life, Sarah Rose Goforth. They were married on the 11th of May, 1953 and stayed together until Rose's death in 2017. They had two children, Jack Edward Kirk Jr, and Johnny Sue Bauer that they raised together. Jack was a grandfather and great grandfather as well.

Following his military service, Jack returned home to Cincinnati, where he built a career in transportation, owning his own trucking company until he retired in Independence surrounded by his family.

Jack will be remembered for his helpfulness, work-ethic, and knowledge he was always willing to share. He always had a smile and a conversation for the people he met at McDonald's and Wendy's in his time here.

He is preceded in death by his wife and two children.

A burial will be held at his grave site at the Independence Cemetery on the 2nd of April, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
