Robert L. Verderame

Robert Verderame, age 88, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Born in Montclair, NJ, Robert was known to all as Bob. Early in life, he served his country in the Army National Guard as a member of the Signal Corps.
Bob achieved a successful and distinguished career in banking. After graduating from Seton Hall University, he began his career at Morgan Guaranty Trust Company on Wall Street where he rose through the ranks to Senior Vice President. He later retired from First Fidelity Bank in Newark.
Beyond his professional life, Bob was a true builder and tinkerer. No project was too complex or challenging for him to tackle. Whether it was framing houses with his uncles, finishing the basement, building a deck to replace one that collapsed or doing odd jobs around the house, all were completed to perfection. He possessed the rare combination of professional expertise during the week and an interest and passion of hands-on work on the weekends.
Bob was an avid golfer, spending many hours on the courses in NJ and PA. He maintained a love for real estate and antique cars, appreciating their craftsmanship and history.
The cornerstone of Bob's life was his family. He shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sally. Together, they built a beautiful life and a loving family.
Bob was the son of the late Anthony and Louise Verderame. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sally, his daughters Karen Verderame and Susan Farbman and her husband Scott. His legacy continues to shine through his cherished granddaughters, Rachel and Eva Farbman, who brought him immense joy. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Don Verderame.
Bob Verderame will be remembered for his sense of humor, wisdom and the unconditional love he provided to his family. His spirit of hard work, curiosity, and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in Nutley on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
