Robert Verdone Obituary
N. Grosvenordale - Robert A. Verdone, 86, formerly of Riverside Dr., died Wednesday morning, May 12, 2021, after a short illness in Villa Maria Rehabilitation Community. He now joins his beloved wife Madelyn (Cudworth) Verdone who predeceased him.
Born on July 7, 1934, in East Douglas, MA, he was the son of the late Edward and Delia (Thibeault) Verdone.
Mr. Verdone proudly served in the United States Army and reserves where he was trained in his lifelong vocation of auto mechanics. Robert worked in many local car dealerships and was highly respected as a master auto technician. Even after retirement he could be seen turning wrenches and helping others.
He enjoyed going on camping trips with his children, riding his Harley Davidson well into his 80's, and watching his beloved NASCAR, but above all he cherished the time that he spent watching his children and grandchildren during their sporting events.
Robert is survived by his son Mark Verdone and his companion Shirley Mitchell of Cape Coral, FL and his daughter Karen Oatley and her husband Herb of Killingly; three grandchildren, Brad and Gary Oatley and Bryon Verdone and a great-grandson Kazen Oatley. He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Verdone.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Robert's family on Monday, May 17, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Valade Funeral Home and Crematory, 23 Main St. N. Grosvenordale, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 18 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, CT. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Robert's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
