Robert Vernon Obituary
He was born in Charleston, WV to the late Robert C. Vernon Sr. and Dovie Mae Romine Vernon. He was also preceded in death by his beloved in-laws Jack and Jo Byrd who were parents in every sense of the word; sister, Anne Melton and brothers, Tommy Vernon and Terry Vernon.
Bob was retired from AT&T. He also served in the US Army and then later retired after serving 39 years in the US Air Force, 130th Air Lift Wing. He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, St. Albans and was a graduate of St. Albans High School, class of 1965.
Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years, Francie Byrd Vernon; sons, Robert C. Vernon III (Emily), Joel Vernon (Ren), Jonathan Vernon (Morgan) and Timothy Vernon; sister, Gloria "Cookie" Taylor; 14 grandchildren and one great grandson.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the funeral service at the church.
Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 701 McCorkle Ave. SW, St. Albans with Pastor Mike Hager officiating.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, WV.
