Robert Vit Obituary
Those who knew Doc will remember his silly, often lovably immature sense of humor, his warmth, and his boundless generosity. If you ever had the pleasure of knowing him, chances are you shared a laugh, an inside joke, or one of his famous spontaneous phone calls just to say he was thinking of you. Doc had an incredible gift for connecting with people and making them feel seen and valued.
He was open about his emotions and spoke often and lovingly of his father, Bob, who passed in 2007. The bond they shared was deep, and Doc's life was marked by the love he both gave and received so freely.
If you love and miss Doc, you can honor his memory by doing something he loved: pick up the phone and call a friend or family member, tee up a round of golf, or press play on one of his favorite artists-Johnny Cash, Chuck D, Ben Harper, or even Tech N9ne. You might also consider making a donation to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, or to your local animal rescue, in honor of his deep love for his dog, Nelly.
Doc is preceded in death by his father, Robert William Vit, his grandfather William Frank Vit, his grandmother Alice Boal Vit, and his grandmother Lucy Livingston.
He is survived by his loving family: Lorrie Vit, Laddie Livingston, Amy Vit, Hannah Bailey, Toby Ruhl, Wendy Vit, Michelle Easterly, Casey Vit Regular, Moses Regular, Hunter Regular, and Scout Regular, as well as the countless friends and extended family who were lucky to be part of his life.
A celebration of Doc's life will be held on November 15, 2025, at the Sedalia Shrine Club in Sedalia, MO, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. All of Doc's friends and loved ones are invited to attend and share in stories, laughter, and remembrance.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stray Rescue of St. Louis or the animal welfare organization of your choice.
