Robert Wachsman

Robert F. Wachsman, age 83 of Alliance, died at 10:20 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2005 at Alterra Sterling House. He was born October 27, 1921 in Elgin, North Dakota to Charles Wachsman and Regina (Alzner) Wachsman Emch. A 1939 graduate of Elgin High School in N. Dakota, Mr. Wachsman was the owner of the Mount Union Mill, retiring after working for more than fifty years. Mr. Wachsman was a member for more than sixty years at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the American Legion, Senior Citizens Center, Masons, Club 55 of St. Paul's, and 40&8 Club. He was a charter member of the Washington Ruritans, and served as president in 1964. He was also a member of the retired officers of the Air Force Association. Mr. Wachsman enlisted in 1942 in the U.S. Air Force, and served during W.W.II, flying B-24's state side. He retired as a Lt. Col. in 1969. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Anne (Bert) Wachsman, whom he married Nov. 18, 1967; three children, Linda Kay (Dave) Polcyn of Medina, Robert L. (Deneen) Wachsman of Alliance, and Keith C. (Cheryl) Wachsman of Perrysburg; three stepchildren, David (Debbie) Ford of Bangkok, Thailand, Ronald D. (Sally) Ford of Alliance, and Linda Ruth Ford of Alliance; two sisters, Dorothy Dunning and Faith Beasley, both of California; three half-brothers, Frank Emch of North Dakota, Duane Emch of Alberta Canada, and Donald Emch of South Dakota; one step-sister, Merile Sept of North Dakota; seven grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Frank Emch, two brothers, two half-brothers, one half-sister, two step-brothers and four step-sisters. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Frank Gross Jr. officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
