Robert Waldron Obituary

Robert Dale Waldron
March 12, 1964 - July 8, 2025
Robert Dale Waldron, passed from this life into the loving and comforting arms of his Savior and King, Jesus Christ. Robert was born in Bakersfield, CA to Leonard Dale and Edna Waldron, and raised in Shafter, CA.
Robert attended Richland Elementary school and Shafter High School (class of 1982). He participated in youth activities such as wrestling, baseball, swimming, unicycle riding and Boy Scouts. He played cornet and trumpet from 4th grade through high school and participated in marching band, jazz band and concert band. He was 1st chair in the Kern County Honor band all four years of high school. He delivered the local Shafter Press during elementary school then the Bakersfield Californian while attending high school.
Robert met the love of his life, Regina Lynn Westbrook while attending school in Shafter. They were married on January 12,1985 at the Shafter Church of Christ. Regina then joined Robert, while he was serving in the Berlin Brigade Band in West Berlin, Germany, where they made their first home of many during his 11 years of service.
The Army provided many opportunities for Robert to see the world. After basic training in Fort Leonardwood, MO, Robert attended the Naval School of Music in Virginia (1982). From there he was assigned to the 9th Infantry Division Band in Fort Lewis, Washington (1983-1984); He then transferred on special assignment to the 298th Army Band in West Berlin, Germany (1984-1987) performing at various events and special ceremonies in West Berlin and all across Europe. He was assigned to the 7th Infantry Division Band in Fort Ord, California (1987-1991); He spent one year in the Eighth Army Band (2nd Division band) in South Korea (1991-1992); and finally, the 36th Army Band in Fort Huachuca, Arizona (1992-1994) performing at various ceremonies and musical events. While at Fort Ord, Robert took private lessons with Claude Gordon, a well-known master trumpeter. He also participated and completed his certification to teach the Claude Gordon method of playing trumpet in 1991. He was a member of the Sierra Vista symphony for many years.
Robert was baptized and became a Christian at 16 years of age. From then on, a calling was on him. Not a perfect man by any means and he would be quick to say, "Thank you, Lord Jesus for choosing me. I don't deserve it but here I am." Everywhere he went, he watched where the Lord would open the door for him to witness the power of Jesus Christ. All through his military service, men and women received Jesus through his bold message of faith. He received a Master of Divinity through Hope University to deepen his knowledge and understanding of God's Word. As an ordained pastor, Robert helped to start two churches in Sierra Vista while also supporting other churches in Cochise County who needed pulpit supply. He was voted in as the Vice President of the Arizona Southern Baptist Convention and thoroughly enjoyed his time there.
Robert's biggest ministry, however, was right in his own home. He was a valued music teacher in the Sierra Vista community. He also had students nationwide and globally and taught them online. Day after day men, women and children, ages 8 and up, would be greeted at the front door with the words, "Come in this house! Let's play guitar (trumpet) and have fun!" Always enthusiastically and always with a smile. In time, students grew in their knowledge of guitar or trumpet. But most discovered more than just a music teacher. Robert became their friend, often over a cup of tea. A trusted confidant, a mentor, a spiritual guide in their own walk with Jesus. He was kind, giving, wise, caring and sharing; and he was compassionate. He was a man who was always trying to seek the council of God.
Robert's pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. His daughters, Rebecca and Rachel were both born in Fort Ord, CA. Rebecca married TJ Pittman in 2010, their children are Leia and Joshua, and they live in Sierra Vista, AZ. Rachel married Ed Zimmermann in 2013, their children are Berlynn, Raegan and Eddie, and they live in Arkansas.
Robert is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Regina, his daughters, sons-in-law, and his grandchildren. His sister, Shari and brother-in-law, Jerry Ellis of Bakersfield, CA. His mother-in-law, LaVonne Westbrook and brother-in-law, David Westbrook of Arkansas. Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends mourn his passing.
His service was held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Shiloh Christian Ministries. A private burial followed at Cochise Memory Gardens. Funeral was directed by Jensen's Mortuary in Sierra Vista.

Regina: I'm sorry for your loss. As you know I first met Robert at Thunder Mountain Community Church where he was the worship leader. A few things stood out to me about Robert: his love for our Lord and Savior Jesus, his gifted talent as a musician, and his obedience to be "quick to listen, slow to speak" Js 1:19. Robert invited me to your home and shared a personal private place that he got alone with God, which was on the roof of your house. That was very special to me. Regina, I want you to know that Robert is in Heaven, and we will see him again. Regina, I pray that you will receive the peace of God (Phil 4:7) during this difficult time. Your brother Rick Yannuzzi.
