Robert W. Walker, Jr
May 6, 2024
Robert Walker Jr, affectionately known as “Bobby” by friends and family or “Doody” by his daughter Alyssa, was born November 22, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the only child born to Viola (Brown) and Robert Walker Sr.
Robert graduated from Wichita East High School and joined the Navy, where he served for four years on three different carriers and was a Vietnam Veteran; he was honorably discharged. After serving in the Navy, he moved to Chicago and was accepted in the carpenter apprenticeship and became a journeyman carpenter. He worked for the University of Chicago for about 20 years where he continued his passion for carpentry.
One Thanksgiving in 1989, Robert visited family in Oklahoma City where he met his future wife and love of his life for 35 years, Gina. In 1991 he moved to Wichita, KS and began working for Cessna, where he enjoyed a 32-year career. Robert truly loved his job and the people he worked with.
He was preceded in death by his parents and leaves to cherish his memories by his loving wife Gina and his children Robert “Tracy” Walker III (Rachel), Briana Walker (Cory), Alyssa Wilson (Tony), nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of family and friends.
Robert was greatly loved and will be deeply missed; his life was a blessing, and his memory is a treasure. We are very thankful for our time with him, how he cared for us, his selflessness, his lessons taught and the beautiful spirit he shared.
Service celebrating Robert’s life will be Monday, May 20, at 2:00pm, at the Cozine Life Events Center. Share condolences and view tribute video at www.cozine.com. Services by Cozine Memorial Group – Cozine Life Events Center.
