Robert Howard Wallace

Robert Howard Wallace, 96, of Marissa, IL, born October 12, 1929, in Marissa, IL, passed away on Saturday January 24, 2026, at HSHS St. Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon, IL. Mr. Wallace was a retired coal miner and a member of Tilden United Methodist Church, the UMWA and Marissa Masonic Lodge #881. He also honorably served his country with the US Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Allen and Beulah (Rhodes) Wallace, his beloved wife – the former Maxine LeVeque, whom he married on February 15, 1951, in Albuquerque, NM, and who passed away on August 26, 2022, his sister and brother-in-law – Patricia (Kenny) Chandler, and his son-in-law Steve Atterberry.

Surviving Robert are his daughter – Bobbie Atterberry of Hillsboro, IL and Mark (Cindy) Wallace of Marissa, IL, a sister – Peggy and (Bill) Bottiaux of Marissa, IL, 6 grandchildren – Jeff Atterberry, Shanna Dyer, Danielle, Abbey and Brendan Wallace, 4 great grandchildren – Emily (Coy) Davidson, Kailey (Brendan) Pellerito, Kate Atterberry and Kennedy Dyer and 5 gr. great grandchildren – Ryder Beeler, Oliver Davidson, Wrenley Davidson, Wallace Banks Davidson, and Bennett Pellerito.

Memorials may be made to Tilden United Methodist Church in Tilden, IL.

Visitation: 10 a.m. till 12 p.m. on Monday February 2, 2026, at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL.

Funeral: 12 p.m. on Monday February 2, 2026, at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL with Rev. Christine Lippert officiating. Burial will follow at Marissa TWP Cemetery in Marissa, IL.
