Robert Walsh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A. G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 19, 2026.
Robert E. Walsh, of Johnstown, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the honorable age of 83 in Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, NY.

Born on the 15th of November 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late James J. Walsh and Rose M. Lesson Walsh.

A patriot at heart, Robert dedicated his early years to service in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1966, a period in which he not only served his country with distinction but also forged lifelong friendships and an unwavering sense of duty. Upon his honorable discharge, he carried these values into a distinguished career in law enforcement, serving as a deputy sheriff for Fulton County. His commitment to the well-being and safety of his community was evident in every aspect of his career, right up until he deserved retirement.

Throughout his life, Robert's faith was a cornerstone of his existence. As a devout Catholic and a communicant of the Holy Trinity Church, he lived his beliefs through acts of kindness and an open heart toward others. Robert's memory will be cherished by many friends, colleagues, and community members whose lives he touched.

In addition to his parents, Robert is predeceased by his brothers, Michael, James, Richard, and Thomas Walsh.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Holy Trinity Church, 205 Glebe Street, Johnstown, NY.

Interment will be held privately at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871, with military honors.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.
