Dr. Robert L. Wang, 77, of Boonton Township, passed away on August 15, 2025. Funeral services were held privately under the care and direction of Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, Roseland, New Jersey. Condolences and memories may be shared at shookfarmer.com.

Born in China, Dr. Wang spent his early years in China, Korea, and Taiwan before coming to the United States in pursuit of higher education. A man of great perseverance and discipline, he first worked as a pharmacist before earning his medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He went on to complete his internship at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, affiliated with the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, his residency in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, and his fellowship in cardiology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey at University Hospital in Newark.

Dr. Wang was a distinguished physician and lifelong scholar. Board-certified in nuclear cardiology, interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease, and internal medicine, he held fellowships with the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI). He was a founder physician-scientist member of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and served as president of the American Chinese Medical Association. His professional affiliations included the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of New Jersey, and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. His practice was located in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, and he was affiliated with Morristown Memorial Hospital and St. Clare's Hospital (Denville). A researcher, book author, and invited presenter, Dr. Wang was repeatedly honored as a New Jersey Top Doctor by New Jersey Monthly.

A man defined not only by his professional accomplishments but also by his deep compassion, Dr. Wang was wholly dedicated to his patients, working tirelessly in his practice until the time of his passing. His passion for cardiology was rooted in his profound belief in service, healing, and the value of every life entrusted to his care.

He had an entrepreneurial spirit that included building his own private practices, researching the stock market, and investing in real estate. He had a strong appreciation of nature, whether traveling to historic sites in the United States, China, or Taiwan, or tending to his own garden at home. He was passionate about sharing his learnings and helping others, whether they were family or friends.

Above all, his love and dedication was to his family. Whether it was family trips to Disney World, weekly meals, daily check-ins, or a funny text, his message to his loved ones was to pursue three things: 1) a lifetime of learning, 2) dream big, and 3) face challenges with an open mind-because the lessons you learn along the way are the strength you provide the younger generations.

Dr. Wang is survived by his beloved wife, Helen S. Wang; his devoted children, Tina Wang and her husband Raymond Colotti, Sandra Wang and her husband Tim Wengryn, and Jason Wang; and his cherished grandchildren, Madison Colotti, Tyler Wengryn, Benjamin Wengryn, and Zoey Wengryn.

As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Heart Association at heart.org.

I was saddened and shocked to learn about Dr. Wang´s passing. My last visit with him was about four months ago. He seemed quite healthy, going about his business with his usual care.

I had been Dr. Wang´s patient for about seven years. In all my visits, I found him to be always caring, listening and patiently answering all my questions, even though he had a busy schedule. I was thankful that in each visit, he spent a lot of time reviewing my history on the computer to make sure nothing was missed.

His insistence on taking every patient´s blood pressure was another sign of his caring attention. Leaving his office I always felt that I was in good hands. Thank you, Dr. Wang.

A true test of a person is the legacy he leaves behind. Even though I knew him only as a doctor, I feel a personal loss that I have lost a wonderful, noble, friend.

Rest in peace, Dr. Wang. You lived a good, noble, honorable life!

With deep appreciation, Anil Talwar

Please accept our condolences to the Family of Dr. Robert L. Wang for his untimely passing. I am one of his Patients and I truly owe my life´s extension to him. He diagnosed my heart problem and recommended open heart surgery which was done 4/10/19. I´m now 86 and enjoying my life extension. Of course, I owe it also to Dr. James Slater who performed the surgery. May God bless you both. Eriberto R. Santos
