Robert Eugene Warner Jr., 69, of Converse, TX, formerly of Andover, MN and Waukegan, IL, went to be with the lord on April 21,2024. Robert was born on May 5, 1954, in Waukegan, Illinois, to his loving parents Robert Warner Sr. and Myrtle Warner.
Robert joined the United States Army in 1973 and eventually retired as a senior NCO. Throughout his accomplished military career, Robert served as a skilled sniper and firearms instructor. He was also a proud member of the U.S. Army marksmanship team, and had the honor of receiving 25 invitations to compete for the U.S. Army at the Olympics. His dedication and expertise left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of serving alongside him. Beyond his military service, Robert pursued academic excellence and obtained a master's degree in computer forensics after retiring from Super Value.
Those who knew Robert will always remember him for his great sense of humor, infectious laughter, and endearing kindness. He had a remarkable ability to bring joy to those around him and leave a lasting impression with his friendly demeanor.
In his leisure time, Robert indulged in hobbies such as hunting and gunsmithing. A true jack-of-all-trades, he approached every endeavor with passion and skill.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Warner Sr. and Myrtle Warner. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years Christine Warner; his sons William (Matt) Soler, and Benjamin (Aubrey); daughter, Abigail (Jess); stepdaughter, Danielle Grimsley; and stepsons, Anthony (Molly) Grimsley, and Christopher; siblings, Vicki Zika nee Warner, James (Jan), Johnny, and Joseph (Kris); eight beloved grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Robert will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his remarkable contributions to his country, his dedication to education and skills development, and above all, for the warmth and light he brought into the lives of those around him. May he rest in peace knowing that his legacy lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
