Christian Biography of Robert H. Wehrman
Robert Henry "Bob" Wehrman, 93, of Nelson, passed away on May 19, 2025, at Parkview Haven in Deshler, Nebraska.
Bob was born January 15, 1932, in Superior, Nebraska, the son of Clifton E. and Florence (Pope) Wehrman. Growing up on the farm west of Nelson, Bob attended Red Line country school, later graduating from Nelson High School in 1949, then went on to the University of Nebraska, earning a degree in Economics.
Bob joined the army in 1953, was a 1st Lieutenant, and served as a pilot in Korea until honorably discharged in 1957.
After leaving the service he worked on the family farms with his father. He later moved to town to live with his father while still farming and continued living in town after his father's death. He was an avid reader, particularly of historical nonfiction and biographies. During lunch while farming he would study the bridge column in the Omaha World Herald and in later years he enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Bob was a member of the Nelson Presbyterian Church and then became a member of the Nelson Community United Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Nelson American Legion.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Clifton Earl and Florence; brothers, Clifton Earl "Bill" and John Richard "Dick"; and niece, Jacqueline Wehrman Davis.
Survivors include his brother J.P. Wehrman and wife Lynn Wake of Seward; sister-in-law Karen Wehrman of Elbert, Colorado; nieces and nephews, John (Gay) Wehrman of Salida, Colorado; Jim (Barb) Wehrman of Nelson; Beth (Rick) Suder of Denver, Colorado; Patricia Skinner of Edgar; Deborah (Tom) Larson of Fort Collins, Colorado; Clifton "Bill" (Peg) Wehrman of Kenesaw; as well as a host of great nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
Graveside Memorial Service with Military Honors held at: Nelson City Cemetery, Nelson, Nebraska
