Robert Lee White, age 73, a resident of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away on December 28, 2025, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family, following preexisting health conditions.
Robert was born on February 1, 1952, in Mantachie, Mississippi, and was raised in Fulton, Mississippi. He was the son of the late Mary Helen Crayton and C.B. White. Robert attended high school and proudly earned his high school diploma while incarcerated—an accomplishment that reflected his determination and resilience.
On April 5, 1998, Robert was united in marriage to Barbette White, with whom he shared a loving life. He dedicated more than 40 years to the construction industry and concluded his career as a skilled concrete finisher.
Robert Lee White was a man who wore many hats—literally and figuratively. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend, and to many, a true “Superman.” He was known for his quiet strength, generosity, and humility. Robert never complained and would give his last without anyone ever knowing. He was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him.
Robert had a lifelong love for baseball and once dreamed of playing professionally, but he willingly placed those dreams aside to become the remarkable man his family cherished. He also enjoyed cooking, playing the lottery, working, traveling, and spending quality time with family.
Baptized at a young age, Robert later rededicated his life to Christ as an adult at Bethel AME Church, where he also contributed his time and talents to help rebuild the church.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Helen Williams and C.B. White; step-parents, Peter Grear Jr. and Jimmy Lee Williams; siblings, K.C. Grear, Gloria Grear, and Lilly Jones; and friends and coworkers, Slim and Oliver.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Barbette White; siblings, Edward Grear, Mary Jones, Teresa Grear, Thelma Towner, Kenny Grear, and Marshall Grear; children, Robert White, Ronnell Reeves, Celeste Weakly, Fosha Cage, Kamisha “Nikki” Shipp, Priscilla Gilleylen, Tasha Leeper, Aaliyah White, Krystal Ben, Pareesha McKay (Tyler), and Tory Higginbottom; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Robert is also remembered fondly alongside his lifelong friends Paul and James Robert, and many others whose lives he touched.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11:00 am at Infinity Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will start at 10:00 am.
