Robert White, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 22, 2026, in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Born on September 14, 1938, in Boston, MA, he grew up in the South Boston neighborhood, specifically in the Old Colony Projects. His early life was shaped by the enduring values instilled in him by his parents, Patrick and Mary White, both of whom hailed from Ireland.

Robert was a proud member of his family, nurturing close relationships with his siblings, including his brother Francis White and his late wife Maureen, his sister Mary Donahoe and her husband Leo who have also passed away. Robert treasured the memories they created together, always holding them dear to his heart.

His educational journey began at Boston College High School, where he laid the groundwork for a future filled with purposeful achievement. Following high school, he served honorably in the National Guard, exemplifying his commitment to his country. This path of service and dedication continued as he pursued higher education, ultimately earning a bachelor's degree in Economics from Boston College.

In a lifelong partnership that spanned over six decades, Robert married Joan (McCracken) White. Their union was characterized by love and steadfast support for one another. Initially residing in Dorchester, they later established their home in Hingham, where they would continue to build a nurturing environment for their family. Together, they raised three children: Michael of Plymouth, and Robert's daughter-in-law Terry; Jeanine Kane and her husband Sean of Easton; and Christine Searcy and her husband Thomas of Easton.

Robert found immense joy in being a grandfather, and he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren: Danielle, Maria, Julia, Brigid, Fiona, Liam, and Emma. Each moment with them was a testament to his love for family, which stood at the core of his being.

Professionally, Robert made significant contributions during his tenure at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston, where he held the position of Assistant Vice President in Statistical Research. His dedication to his work was mirrored by his longstanding role at Fenway Park, where he worked in the vending room for an impressive 50 years, a testament to his unwavering commitment and love for the game of baseball.

A passionate sports fan, Robert's heart beat strongest for the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, and Patriots. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious, and he eagerly watched every game, except for golf, which he humorously detested. After retiring, he delighted in attending Red Sox Spring Training with Joanie, relishing the opportunity to celebrate his favorite team.

Throughout his life, Robert also cultivated a love for stamp collecting, a hobby he embraced from childhood and continued to pursue with zeal. However, above all else, it was the love for his family that defined Robert White. His legacy of kindness, joy, and dedication to those he loved will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 1/29/2026 from 4-7 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.
