Robert worked at General Electric as a steel fabrication operator for 30 years. Robert loved working in his flower garden and could fix anything that his children or grandchildren would break.
He had his own woodworking shop and enjoyed the time he spent learning and creating. Robert loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and was also a lifelong Cowboys fan. He looked forward to his "coffee crew" time at the Shell station. Moreover, Robert loved his family deeply. His wife, children, and grandchildren meant the world to him. He will be dearly missed.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Brian (Mary) Whitham, Tonya (Jamey) Hartman, and Tammy Dingman; grandchildren, Tyler (Beth) Whitham, Kellie (Dan) Aney, Kourtney Hartman, Mikayla Hartman, Kristina Tames, and Timothy (Lauryn) Dingman; niece, Kaylyn (Marcques) Derby and their children; and extended family, Wendy (Chris) Myers, Kaydyn Myers, Riley Myers, Mark (Michelle) Lobberecht, Justin Lobberecht, Brandon (Jenna) Lobberecht and their children, Cara (Taylor) Moon and their children; and many other family and friends who sadly miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marvin and Kenny Whitham; an infant granddaughter, Nicole Hartman; in-laws, John and Virginia Parker, and Robert and Dorothy Williams; and several uncles and aunts.
Visitation will be from 12 noon until 6 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street, Burlington.
The funeral service for Mr. Whitham will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at Prugh Funeral Service, with Reverend Brooke Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the fellowship hall at First Christian Church in Burlington.
