BROOKLAND – Robert Grant Wiest, 93, of Brookland passed from this life on Friday, Aug. 4, 2023, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born in Lancaster, Wis., on June 8, 1930, to Mr. and Mrs. August and Mae Wiest.
Robert resided in Brookland for the last 32 years and was a member of Woods Chapel Baptist Church in Brookland. Robert was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers. He retired from Sunstrands Corp. in Rockford, Ill., and also served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Lavonda Bernice Wiest; his parents; as well as his brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his two sons, Glen Hale of Pensacola, Fla., and Robert J. Wiest of Rockford, Ill.; daughters, Mozelle (James) Frazier of Paragould, Peggy (Norm) Starks of Beloit, Wis., and Rhonda (Rick) Hathcoat of Brookland; son-in-law, Rich Timpe; grandchildren, Joseph (Sara) Enna, Angela (Bob) McCarty, Carrie (Roger) Adams, Lindy (Mark) Baker, Zach Hale, Tara Schaff-Gatlin, Amy Schaff, Leah Schindler, Robert (Julie) Wiest, Crystal (Kevin) Bachman, Tiffany (Adam) Creecy, Kyle (Brandi) Hathcoat and Heather (Blake) Beshiers; as well as 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff at Sunshine Manor in Paragould.
A visitation will be held Wednesday Aug. 9, 2023, from 10-11 a.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 11 a.m. with Brother Rick Hathcoat officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.
