Robert “Bob” Leroy Williams passed away March 31, 2024 at the age of 46. Bob was born November 29, 1977 in Dallas Texas to Sandra Kniffin and Robert Williams. He lived his early years in Dallas with his mother and grandparents, Sandy and Jimmy Kniffin. Bob was a sweet, kind boy, but also quite a “handful” with an abundance of mischievous energy.  His grandmother kept him busy.  He participated on numerous youth sports teams, cub scouting, fishing, etc. He loved to go fishing with his grandmother. They were very close.

When he entered adolescence his mother and grandparents sensed he needed more family structure around him. At age 14 he moved to Hyrum, Utah to live with his cousins Jonathan, David, Devin, Tiffany, and Cory Pitcher, in the family of Cindy and Brian Pitcher.  He became a valued member of the Pitcher family, and of their Hyrum neighborhood and ward.

In 1996 he graduated from Mountain Crest High School, then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1997-98) to Raleigh North Carolina. He taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ and developed a devotion to University of North Carolina Tar Heels basketball.

Upon his return, Bob lived in Logan. For a short time, he attended Utah State University, and worked several years in the cafeteria at Logan Regional Hospital. He received great support and became close with his aunt Terri Kniffin and cousins, James, Danny, and Heidi. He felt part of both the Pitcher and Kniffin families. From their perspective he is like a son and brother.

Bob loved to play games, watch movies and television, follow the NBA (especially the Houston Rockets), and spend time with family. He really enjoyed gift giving on birthdays and Christmas.  He was very generous and had a knack for selecting thoughtful, unique gifts for each person on his list. He had a keen memory and was observant of people's interests, characteristics, and needs.

Sadly, he began to experience chronic pain, and it became debilitating. Seeking a path to healing, in 2008, Bob moved to Spokane, Washington to live with his aunt and uncle, Cindy and Brian.  After many ups and downs over several year, Bob’s condition stabilized enough that in 2016 he returned to Logan to live independently.  Being close to extended family, he remained stable for a few years. It was always impressive how optimistic he was about the future, including hope for full recovery. Unfortunately, his challenges were a constant struggle and worsened.

Bob had a passion for pop culture, sports, and electronics, and loved spending hours discussing them with friends and family. He was a voracious reader and enjoyed sharing what he had learned. He was convinced that others should be just as interested as he in these same passions. He had a knack for remembering the names and details of the lives of all his cousins and their children, even when his health didn't allow him to see them often. Family was very important to Bob. He really enjoyed being with family.  He was always coming up with ideas for what they should be doing. He counseled his aunts, uncles, and cousins on how to help one another. His counsel was frank, honest and based on love for everyone.

Bob faced his illness and circumstances with courage and determination.  He searched broadly and read deeply for treatments and remedies.  He appreciated small improvements and blessings.  He was grounded in his religious beliefs and exercised faith valiantly.  He was humble and appreciative -- especially for the love and support he received from others.  We will miss him -- deeply!

Bob is survived by his Uncle George (Wanda) Kniffin, Aunt Cindy (Brian) Pitcher, Aunt Terri Kniffin, and his cousins, Jon (Sara) Pitcher, David (Jenny) Pitcher, Devin (Holly) Pitcher, Tiffany (Corey) Brady, Cory (Krystal) Pitcher, James Davenport, Danny (Jill) Heath, Heidi (Tyson) Herrera, and Kory Simmons.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Kniffin Williams, his father Robert Williams, and his grandparents, Sandy and Jimmy Kniffin, and Evelyn Jennings,

Funeral Services will be Saturday April 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building, 95 North 675 West, Hyrum Utah.  Friends are invited to come prior to the services, 10:00-10:45 AM, to visit and share respects.

Bob will be interred at the Logan City Cemetery next to his Grandparents Sandy and Jim Kniffin.
