I was deeply saddened to read of the death of Dr. Robert Williams. He and his wife Judy were investment clients of mine in the 1970´s. He and Judy were a very personable, attractive couple when Dr. Williams was in the early stages of an esteemed medical career and Judy was a Washington, DC school teacher.
Based on the advice of their close friend and tax/legal advisor, they enjoyed the low risk, consistent returns of tax-exempt municipal bonds from Paine, Webber. Later they found an early Winthrop Financial Co. of Boston real estate offering compelling. The investment featured significant tax-benefits and long term capital gains potential through an attractive "Triple-net lease" of a commercial property in the Los Angeles suburbs.
Both Dr. Williams and Judy carefully analyzed these investments and found them consistent with their financial situation and long term financial goals.
Even during these early years in his career, it was readily apparent that Dr. Williams was destined to enjoy a distinguished medical career.
He was greatly admired and will be dearly missed.
