Robert Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carnes Funeral Home - Texas City on Jan. 28, 2026.
Robert C. Williams was born in Houston, Texas on August 27, 1940 and raised in Hitchcock, Texas with his parents, the late Emery and Edna Williams. Robert is affectionately known to most people as Bobby or RC. He is married to Karen Williams and together they have a blended loving family. RC was a devoted, loving, and faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, and friend. He passed away on January 20, 2026.

RC has been a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church since the tender age of 12. He served as president of the Deacon Board, church choir, male chorus, Sunday school teacher, chairman of the Education Committee, and Culinary ministry. He is an ordained Deacon, member of the greeter's ministry and whatever else needed without a title.

He was the first of many as an African American to enter the Monsanto Operator Apprentice Program. A Supervisor at Monsanto in 1969 many have shared that he gave them their first job. While still employed with Monsanto he stepped out on faith in 1977 and began his pride and joy of being the founder and owner of Robco Janitorial Services in the back of his station wagon with one employee and a vacuum cleaner which expanded to become RC Williams enterprises, Inc, Robco Services and once again employed many. His culinary skills were amazing, which then he established ROBCO Catering, the best BBQ and beans your palate could ever savor. He would feed any and everyone. He worked with his dear friend Jay Carnes at Carnes Funeral Home for the past 20 years until his health began to decline.

RC's Political and Public service affiliations has afforded him to be the First African American elected to Hitchcock City Commission and Hitchcock Mayor Pro-Tem, the Board of Directors with Gulf Coast Water Authority, the Board of Directors of Texas City Rotary Club and as President, Executive Board of Boy Scouts of America, Board Member of Texas City Lamarque Chamber of Commerce, Board Member of the Salvation Army, Board Member of Hitchcock Industrial Development Corp., Site Based Decision Making Committee for LaMarque High School and Middle School, NAACP lifetime Member. RC was a member of the Historical Amity Lodge #4 Free and Accepted Masons, Prince Hall Affiliated, 32nd Degree Mason, and Member of Winn Consistory #234.

RC never met a stranger, he was a kind soul, gentle and a huge cheerful giver. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, aunt, brothers, sister and grandchild.

He is survived by his wife Karen Williams and his blended family which he loved very much.
