Robert Winchester Obituary

Robert Oscar Winchester

Robert O. Winchester, 85, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on December 5, 2024.

"And I rose in rainy autumn and walked abroad in a shower of all my days." -- Dylan Thomas

Robert, Bob to his friends, was born October 27, 1939, in Parma, Missouri, to R.E. and Nellie Mae (Eskew) Winchester. He graduated from Sikeston High School with the Class of 1957. Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served during the Vietnam War, and had a career spanning 33 years. After earning his degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Nuclear Option at the University of Wyoming, Robert was commissioned as an officer in the Air Force. He had a long and distinguished career as a logistics officer in nuclear surety at bases in the United States and Europe until he retired with the rank of Colonel in 1992.

While at the University of Wyoming, he met Judith L. McClenahan. They married on Dec 22, 1963, and their union was blessed with two children, Royal and Regina.

He was a member of Phi Delta Theta, the American Nuclear Society, the Loyal Order of Moose, the American Cut Glass Association, and the American Carousel Society.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Judy, of The Villages, Florida; his son, Royal Winchester; his daughter, Regina Winchester; one grandchild, Skaeya Winchester; siblings Judi Kaszyca, Karen DeLage, Linda Johnson, and Brooke Johnston.
