Robert Glenn Woessner died peacefully at home on September 4, 2024 at age 59, after a courageous battle with cancer. This tumor was impossible to eradicate in spite of the excellent care and treatment by the Aurora St. Luke's Neuro-Oncology team. He entered into the Aurora Home Hospice program on July 10, 2024.
Rob was the first child of Robert and Geraldine Woessner, and grew up in the Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended Wisconsin Lutheran High School and graduated from Bay View High School.
Rob was a very bright and curious young man. He loved to figure things out and solve problems. He and his brothers liked to go sledding in South Shore Park. Thinking outside of the box, instead of using a sled, he drilled a hole in the front of an old water ski, attached a rope and a handle to it and cruised down the hill standing up. Robbie was the original inventor of the snowboard.
Rob was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who know him. We will especially miss his laughter and sense of fun, his cooking and baking skills, and his ability to build, repair, and even invent almost anything.
Rob's entire adult life was like a love letter to Tracey, his wife of 31 years. They met on a blind date and it really was love at first sight. His joy of camping and traveling was also shared by Tracey.
Rob's other favorite pastime was his dedicated and compassionate work at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, where he was an expert phlebotomist for 34 years in the Lab and the ER. He taught numerous coworkers how to do this job, always including the special kind of care he showed to each patient.
Rob lives on in the hearts and minds of his wife, Tracey (nee Wozniak), dad Robert (Mom Geraldine deceased), brothers Steve (Angela) and Dave, Sister Laura (Matt) Chason, mom-in-law, Judy (Howard) Hayes, sisters-in-law, Lauren (Chip) Law and Cheryl (David) Timmer. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers, countless friends, and his current adopted favorite dog, Tollee.
In lieu of flowers, please perform a random act of kindness, or support a charity of your choice in Rob's name.
A Celebration of Rob's life will be held with a memorial gathering at Hartson Funeral Home on Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 3pm - 5pm. Service at 5 pm.
