Robert H Wood
May 21, 1942 – January 12, 2026
Bob passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 12, 2026.
He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force and member of the American Legion. With a lifelong career as a mechanic there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix and was always willing to help anyone, even strangers, with their car, boat, tractor or anything mechanical. He loved classic cars, motorcycles, and tinkering. As long as he kept busy he was happy. He was a man of deep faith and love of Jesus. Above all he loved his family, friends and community and he will be deeply missed by so many.
He is survived by his children David Wood, Laurie Fernald, Pam McCarthy, Becky Gamache and Beth Wood; his grandchildren Eric, Chris, Angela, Robin, Theresa, Devlin, Brennan, Lily, Dylan and Bella; his great grandchildren Jameson and Jameson’s sibling due to arrive in May; nieces, great nieces/nephews, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, and many beloved friends.
He is predeceased by his sisters Lorraine Waterman and Jackie Wood as well as his brother-in-law John Waterman.
Services will be held at the Alton Community Church on Friday February 20, 2026 at 10:30 AM followed by a reception and then burial at the NH Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at 2pm. All are invited and welcome.
In lieu of flowers or gifts the family would ask that you donate to the Alton American Legion, Alton Community Church, Alton Community Services or any Veteran organization.
