Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tom M. Wages Funeral Service - Snellville on Nov. 18, 2025.
Robert Brantley Yarrington, of Lilburn, GA, died November 15, 2025 after a year-long, fierce battle with cancer. He was 75 years old.
To those who loved him or were fortunate enough to know him, Bob was a true Renaissance Man with very little he could not do. After graduating from Gonzaga High School in Washington, DC, he earned an Aerospace Engineering degree from the University of Michigan and later a Law degree from the Catholic University of America. At heart, he was an engineer who loved to learn, explore, and tinker. His career as an Automation Control Specialist took him around the world, where he designed advanced manufacturing facilities that relied on automation. No matter where he traveled, he made friends with ease, joining trivia teams, volunteering with groups, and connecting with people through his warm and curious nature. He found joy in woodworking, concerts, home improvement, gardening, reading, traveling, trivia, volunteering, bridge, and cheering for his beloved University of Michigan football team. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. All members of his extended family benefitted from his generosity of time and talent.
He loved going on great adventures and sharing stories about them with friends and loved ones. If you ever were to ask him about Michigan football, gardening, or the weather, his face would light up and he'd tell you everything you'd ever want to know (and more). Before there was Google, there was Bob - the real living encyclopedia - always the type of person you wanted on your trivia team and always someone that was more than ready to share the answer to any question you had!
He is survived by his wife, Mary Yarrington of Lilburn, GA, and by his daughter, Jennifer Yarrington Geist and her husband Daniel Geist of Dunwoody, GA; daughter-in-law Rakhi Jattani of Peabody, MA; Catherine Herrington and her husband Todd Herrington of Smyrna, GA; and Christopher Yarrington and his wife Courtney Redman of Minot, ND. He is also survived by his siblings Charlotte Yarrington Ball and her husband Michael Ball of Silver Spring, MD, and Michael Yarrington of Pinellas Park, FL. His grandchildren, who brought him endless joy, include Charlotte A. Herrington, Sebastian J. Geist, Evelyn R. Herrington, Genevieve J. Geist, Sylvia M. Herrington, Elora A. Yarrington, and Fitzwilliam J. Yarrington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry Brantley Yarrington and Mary Jane Yarrington; his son, Robert (Bobby) Mace Yarrington; his grandchildren, Lillian Aileen and Bridget Charlotte Herrington; and his sister-in-law, Linda (Lindy) Yarrington.
