Robert Nicholas Kramer
Robert Nicholas Kramer, 85, died peacefully March 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a journey with Alzheimer's.
He was born in Michigan on May 16, 1940, to Rose Marie (Julian) and Bernard Swiecicki, who preceded him in death, along with his sister, Rosemary Fougerousse. He leaves his loving wife of 63 years, Sharon; three children, Mark (Sommar, predeceased), Kristin Sluhan (John) and Karen Swisher (William); and four grandchildren, Lily and Elizabeth Tierney (Sluhan), Casey Kramer and Nicholas Swisher; along with brother, Richard Swiecicki; and niece, Bernadette Drennon (Brian); and nephew, Jack Fougerousse (Shelly) to honor his memory.
Bob was the first in his family to pursue higher education, where he met the love of his life, Sharon. He was selected by his high school to participate in a novel cooperative engineering partnership between Ford Motor Company and the University of Michigan, enabling him to attend a semester of school while concurrently working at Ford Motor Company, commencing with the Ford Steel Division in 1959. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) in 1963, and commenced his career at Ford Motor Company as a process development engineer within the Ford Glass Division. Throughout his 25-year tenure at Ford, he diligently advanced through the ranks and acquired patents for developing float glass processes. In 1984, he relocated to
Toledo, Ohio, as the Director of Quality Assurance for Libby Owens Ford, and concluded his professional career as an expert witness in the field of Glass and Glazing Forensics.
Bob's greatest achievement in life is the family he created with Sharon. He found immense joy and fulfillment in parenting his cherished children and grandchildren. He actively participated in all their endeavors as a coach, mentor and cheerleader, proud of the achievements they gained in life. His love of music, dancing, and his amazing sense of humor will be his legacy with his family. His "Show" and parkour stunts are legendary and will be a joyful lasting memory for all. His mother's extensive Italian family, the Julian's, was the foundation for his love of family. His aunts, uncles, and cousins were always a cherished part of his life. Bob will be remembered as a man of faith, smart, funny, faithful, loyal, dedicated, and a loving, giving, husband/father/grandfather/brother/uncle/friend.
The family is deeply appreciative of the excellent, compassionate care Bob received at StoryPoint Memory Care in Waterville and Elara Hospice.
