Robert Lee Yeakel

Robert Lee Yeakel, born 17 July 1929 in Upper Mauch Chunk Pennsylvania, son of Albertis C. and Bertha M Yeakel (nee Reehl) lost his battle with colon cancer on 8 October 2014. He was one of 12 brothers and sisters, of which eight had predeceased him; Kenneth, Zeke, Doris, Richard, Ruth, Caroline, Marlene, and Roger . He is survived by his daughter, Marika Porzio, son-in-law Thomas Porzio, his son, William Yeakel, his daughter-in-law Irene Yeakel, his brothers Henry and Albertis Jr. and his sister Harriet. He had five grandchildren, Bradford Yeakel, Thomas Porzio, Samantha Porzio, Anthony Porzio and McKenzie Porzio. He served in the United States Army as a non-commissioned officer with several tours in Germany, France, Korea and Greenland. After retirement from the Army in 1971 he worked at the Atlas Powder Company until 1991. He spent the last seventeen years living with his son and daughter-in-law in Aberdeen Maryland. A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church in Aberdeen beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, 11 October.
