Roberta Eugenia (Williamson) Buggy, 87, of Melrose, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family as she gave her final kiss goodbye. Born on June 17, 1938, Roberta was raised in Everett, MA, by her devoted parents, the late George and Nora Williamson. She graduated from Everett High School with the Class of 1956.
Roberta’s life was defined by her deep love for family, friends, and neighbors; her strong faith; and her joy in simple, meaningful traditions like family vacations, baking, and giving back to her community. As a child, when she wasn’t enjoying the beach with her lifelong friends, she spent cherished summers at Newfound Lake in New Hampshire, especially treasuring the time she shared with her grandmother.
A dedicated homemaker and tireless volunteer, Roberta became well known throughout Melrose for her exceptional cooking. Her talents led her to cater countless community events, both as a volunteer and as a working chef.
Roberta first married her childhood sweetheart, the late Francis Corvino of Everett, with whom she shared two children, Frank and Kathleen. After Francis’s passing, Roberta was blessed to find love again with the late Michael Buggy. Together, they built a beautiful life and enjoyed 62 years of marriage, raising seven children and celebrating the blessings of 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
She was the heart of every gathering, famous for her warm hugs, her enthusiasm for all her children’s activities, and her unwavering presence in their lives. Roberta volunteered with the PTO, Camp Fire Girls, Cub Scouts, and CCD, always ready to lend a hand. Her legendary gingerbread houses were a highlight of the Hoover School Christmas fairs, where they were always the most sought after prize.
Roberta is survived by her children, Francis Corvino and wife Carol of Gloucester, Kathy (Corvino) Kersey and husband Jim of Murrieta, CA, Daniel Buggy and wife Terry of Andover, Michael Buggy and wife Barbara of Melrose, Timothy Buggy and wife Anna of North Kingstown, RI, Kirk Buggy of Orleans, Jason Buggy and partner Maria de Vries of Melrose.
She also leaves behind her 13 beloved grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, who will carry forward her love for family and her generous spirit.
In honor of Roberta’s lifelong affection for animals, the family kindly requests donations to your local humane society.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment to follow at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
