Sandra Ferdinand, a resident of Malden, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on January 19th, 2026, at Mass General Hospital. She was 50.
Sandra was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, on January 15, 1976. Raised in Port-Au-Prince, Sandra immigrated to the United States during her high school years. Sandra and her family settled in Medford, where she graduated from Medford High, and later moved to Malden, where she pursued an associate's degree at Fisher College while maintaining aspirations to earn a degree in psychology to better serve the community.
Sandra devoted her professional life to caring for others. She worked for nearly two decades with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, where she took great pride in her role. With careful consideration, she helped ensure that young children across the Commonwealth were placed in safe, supportive, and loving environments. Her work reflected her sense of compassion and commitment to doing what was right.
Above all, Sandra was devoted to her family. She was a loving daughter, a caring sister, and a steady, reliable, kind presence to those who knew her. Known for her calm strength and gentle spirit, Sandra gave herself selflessly. She was a fierce advocate and deeply passionate about serving others, which was also extended creatively in her literary pieces.
Sandra was a devout Christian and a member of the Pearls of Massachusetts. She enjoyed making connections, supporting, and empowering other women.
Sandra will be deeply and sorely missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her parents, Anne Evelyne (Azor) Schettini and Antoine Schettini; her siblings, Tatiana Schettini and Giovanni Schettini; and her niece, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Sandra's life during Visiting Hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, January 30 from 4-7 P.M., and again on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 8:45 A.M. before leaving in procession to Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden for her Funeral Mass celebrated at 10 A.M.
