Roberta Marie (Jones) Butler, 89, of Louisville was born August 30th, 1935, and passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, December 6th, 2024. Roberta was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Her kindness extended to relatives, family-friends, and complete strangers alike. Nothing made Roberta happier than seeing the people she loved smile. She loved to laugh, and had the most loving and exuberant personality. Her generosity, unwavering loyalty to her friends and family, and affection for her pets are just some of the things that made Roberta such a joy to know and love. She was an avid fan of slot machines, scratch-offs, and spoiling her children and grandchildren. She loved to read and watch her garden, and often enjoyed her evenings watching Jeopardy and NCIS. Any time there was a game, you would catch her cheering for her beloved Louisville Cardinals and Lamar Jackson. Her favorite place was the beach, spending a relaxing vacation with her family. All who knew her will miss her humor, her caring nature, and her delicious cooking. While she was bestowed with many nicknames throughout her life - Berta, Moo, Auntie Bobo, and Mumzy to name a few - those closest to her called her Grammy. Roberta is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas F. Butler Sr.; her son, Thomas F. Butler Jr.; and her son-in-law, James E. Osborne.
Roberta is survived by her three daughters, Karen Butler, Kathy Butler, and Robin Bufkin (Mike); her two grandchildren, Kaitlyn M. Toloczko (Nick) and Stephen Thomas Bufkin; Chet Ervin whom she loved as a grandson; and countless grand-doggies and grand-kitties.
Visitation will be 3pm to 6pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Roberta's life will follow at 6pm.
