Meredith Funeral Home - CarbondaleCARBONDALE – Roberta Louise Kayser, Armit, Levelsmier, 90, passed away at Century Living at Lewis Ln. on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 at 6:06am.
Roberta “Bobbi” was born on November 24th, 1934, to Frederick and Emma (Kaus) Kayser in Pittsburgh, PA.
She married Edward Dean Armit in Pittsburgh, PA until his passing in October of 1970. Bobbi then married Jerry Edward Levelsmier of Carbondale, IL on October of 1972 until his passing on July 29th, 2020.
Bobbi is survived by two sons, Jeff (Teresa) Armit of Carbondale, IL and Bart Armit of Atlanta, GA, 6; two stepdaughters, Terry Lynn (Robin) Kevlin/Levelsmier of Nashville, TN and Laura (Peter) Soccorso of Clarksville, TN; daughter in-law, Nancy Levelsmier; 6 grandchildren; EJ Armit, Lacey Armit, Eli Armit, Clara Armit, Grace Armit, Jack Armit three step-grandchildren, Nick Levelsmier, Parker Brown, Kiera Soccorso.
Preceded by death by her parents, Fred and Emma Kayser, grandson Joshua Armit and two step-sons Steven and William Levelsmier.
Growing up Bobbi was very active in youth/high school activities then moving on to Nursing School at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh where she graduated as an RN. While married to Ed Armit and Jerry Levelsmier she gave back to her community in many ways.
Among many other interests Bobbi showed her talents and compassion throughout her adult life.
As a 50-year member of the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale Bobbi was a long-standing chorister and also helped with maintaining the church grounds throughout the year. Jerry and Bobbi were both involved in several medical missions to include the Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Mexico.
Bobbi had many other talents to include being a musician, playing guitar, piano, singing/performing to various local nursing homes as well as enjoying golf & tennis throughout the year. She spent countless hours in her garden and maintaining her flower plantings. Artistic talents; painting, drawing and creating stained glass projects from scratch. Bobbi was also very enthusiastic about participating in the Cuddler program at the Carbondale Memorial Hospital where an individual comforts the very young / early arrival babies through talking to the baby with soothing tones, singing, humming etc.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 6th, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of service on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bobbi’s name made be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital based in Memphis, TN and will be accepted at the church or online at https://www.stjude.org/donate.
