Roberta Inez (Hard) Muder
Robert Inez (Hard) Muder, 82, passed away peacefully into paradise after a long period of declining health on Sunday, September 7, 2025. Bobbie was born in Boston, MA at the Boston Lying-In Hospital on May 7, 1943, while her dad, Milton L. Hard, was a Private in the US Army stationed in North Weymouth, MA during WWII. Like many military families she lived in multiple places as a young girl including Arkansas, Louisiana, Illinois, and Texas. Her father's military service brought the family to Pease Airforce Base where she attended Portsmouth High School with the Class of 1960 and graduated from Brower High School in White Settlement, Texas.
While living in Portsmouth she met and married Woodrow P. Emerton Jr. and they had three children, Jon, Tracy and Chris.
She built a life with her second husband and much-loved stepfather; Frederick Earl Muder. They built a home in North Hampton in 1972 where they operated their construction company Fred E. Muder Construction Inc. They had a beloved and rare child together, Michael Christopher Muder and it was their greatest joy to raise him in North Hampton, NH, Naples ME and Naples, FL.
Bobbie was a lifelong learner, earned an LPN degree from the New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) and took multiple accounting classes at NHTI. She later earned her associate's degree (AS) in Nursing from Edison College in Ft. Myers, FL Her nursing career included work at Exeter Hospital, Bridgeton Hospital and Central Maine Medical Center of Lewiston, Maine. She continued her nursing work at Manor Care, The Willoughs and the Collier County Jail in Naples, FL. She was also a entrepreneur and ran multiple home-based businesses, selling copper, Sarah Coventry and ceramics business, and a plant shop. She was a lady ahead of her time and did whatever was needed to support her family.
Surviving family members include her children, her eldest, Jon M. Emerton and wife Linda Jo Emerton of Cincinnati, OH, who cared for her later in her life. She also leaves her daughter Tracy Emerton Williams and her husband E. Scott Williams of North Hampton, NH, her youngest son, Michael C. Muder and his wife Gina Spinney-Davis of Portsmouth, NH.
She leaves her sisters Deborah (Hard) Bonacki and her husband Tom Bonacki of Mesa, CA, along with their children, Colin and Kent and youngest sister Cheryl Anne (Hard) Fernald of Naples, FL and her son Joseph Fernald.
Bobbie leaves four (4) grandchildren and seven (7) great grandchildren, Sean Mitchell Emerton and his wife Shannon and their daughters, Lilly, Alana and Natalie of Cincinnati, OH, Samuel Martin Emerton and his children, Connor, Evelyn, Olivia, and Willow, also in Ohio. She leaves granddaughter Alexandra C. Williams and her husband Ernesto Fernandez of Woodstock, VT, and grandson Captain Nathaniel J. Williams (USMC).
Bobbie also leaves stepchildren Gloria McDougall and husband John McDougall and stepson Gary Muder, all of Ocala, Fl and a special step nephew Fred Carter and his wife Arlinda Sue Carter of Lebanon, ME.
Bobbie is predeceased by her loving spouse of 40 years, Frederick E. Muder, her son Christopher B. Emerton, her parents, Milton L. Hard and Inez M. Kiley. Also predeceasing her is her brother Frank M. Hard of Exeter, NH, and her brother-in-law David Fernald of Stratham, NH, both Vietnam War Veterans. In addition, she is predeceased by her stepdaughter Donna Mae Burnham of Lady Lake, Florida.
Bobbie loved crafting which included crocheting, stain glass art, ceramics, painting, and decorating doll houses that Fred built. She loved reading magazines, going out to eat, talking, cruising to the Bahamas, telling stories of her time growing up and stories of her work in the medical field. She was described be a close family member as "one of a kind" and was a strong Irish woman and proud of it.
There will be no calling hours, and burial services and a celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date. A donation in her name to https://www.connectionspeersupport.org/ in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated by the family to continue her legacy of support to others.
