ROBERTA PEPEK, 86, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Tuesday,
December 16, 2025, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold, NJ. She was born in
Newark, NJ and resided in
Belleville, NJ, prior to settling in Jackson Twp. 30
years ago.
She was a communicant of St. Casimir Polish Roman Catholic Church, Newark,
NJ, where she was also very active in the Parent Teachers Association, as well as a
class mother for her children, and enjoyed loading up her car with as many kids as
she could fit, to take on their class trips.
Additionally, she was an active participant in the Bayonne Bridgemen Drum and
Bugle Corps during her son Michael's marching years. Together with her husband
Edward, and their son Vincent, who drove the chuck wagon and equipment trucks,
Roberta cooked and prepared meals for over 125 marching kids, and their
instructors. On top of that, Roberta and Eward housed over 20 kids from Staten
Island during their practice season, prior to going out on tour. Roberta loved all
children and she was in her element, always caring for other family members'
children too. Roberta loved traveling across the country to visit her son Gary and
Lynne, at the various naval military bases where he was stationed.
Roberta worked as a teacher's aide for the kindergarten class at the Glen Ridge
Elementary School,
Glen Ridge, NJ for approximately 10 years prior to her
retirement.
Roberta was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Veronica Takesky; and by
her son, Michael Pepek. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Edward J.
Pepek; her daughter, Karen Gibby of Jackson Twp.; her sons, Gary Pepek and his
wife, Lynne of Jackson Twp., Vincent Pepek and his wife, Eileen of Jackson Twp.,
and Joseph Pepek and his wife, Ivanna of
Bayonne, NJ; her grandchildren, John E.
LaLama IV, Jamie Rodriguez, Krista Des Jardin and her husband, Dan, Zachary
Pepek and Katarina Pepek; her great grandchildren, Sam Rodriguez, Sofia
Rodriguez, and Kelsey, Katie and Kenzie Des Jardin; and by her sister, Priscilla
Hoarle and her husband, Robert of Nutley, NJ, as well as her brother-in-law
Leonard Pepek and his wife Irene, of Toms River, NJ.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation from 4-8 PM
on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL
HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson, NJ. A funeral gathering will be offered
at 8 AM on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the funeral home. Her Funeral Liturgy
will follow at 11 AM at St. Casimir Polish Roman Catholic Church, 91 Pulaski St.,
Newark, NJ. A private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may
be made in Roberta's memory to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St.
