Roberta Jean Rector was born February 20, 1939, to Robert and Helen Layne in Denver, Colorado. She grew up in the Deer Trail area and graduated from Deer Trail High School as the class Valedictorian. During that time, she helped her mom with milking the cows and running the local café. The café is where she met the love of her life Jim Rector. They were married on October 6, 1957, in the First Baptist Church of Deer Trail and were married for 63 years. The couple had two children, Lannette Marie in 1958 and Dale Alan in 1961. Roberta accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and trusted in him throughout her entire life.
Roberta spent many years volunteering in the local missionary group, organizing & leading several BYF groups with Jim, and served on the local town board.
In her spare time, she loved to read books, plant flowers/garden and sit on the front porch with Jim and their dog, visiting with friends and family and watching the world go by.
Given the chance, Roberta and Jim would be off in their motorhome for any travel adventures , whether it was to see family or friends or for a sightseeing journey. She never turned down a trip opportunity and loved to travel.
Roberta loved to spending time with her family and friends and prayed for them daily.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Rector, Father Robert Layne, Mother and Stepfather Helen and John Connelly, and Sister Sandy Mock.
