PLAINS TWP. — Roberta Ricardo Schloemer, 82, of Plains Township, peacefully passed away Monday afternoon, Oct. 14, 2024, at Allied Services Hospice Care Center in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.
Born in the Keystone section of Plains Township, she was the daughter of the late Grant and Helen (Sokola) Pryor.
Roberta is survived by her only child, daughter, Larissa Goldstein, of Shavertown; granddaughter, Mya Fortune, of Wilkes-Barre; niece, Maria (Pryor) and husband, John Deitz, of Tunkhannock; nephew, Michael Pryor, of Duryea; nephew, Raymond and Sarah Pryor, of Harveys Lake; cousin, Kathy Segear and Nick Paulish, of Exeter; cousin, Melissa Segear; niece, Jaylene Segear and nephew, Jaiden Segear, of Wilkes- Barre; best friend, Sue Mingle, Plains Township; and best friend, Martha Scocozzo, Kingston.
Joining her in passing was her late twin brother, best friend, and confidant, Roger Pryor, Plains Township; who played as a musician with both Rusty and the Vesatiles, and the Polka Punch, whom she gravely loved and missed; husband, William Schloemer, Luzerne; and mutual partner, Lemuel C. Goldstein, Palm Harbor, Fla.
Roberta was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1960. She then went on to attend the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing. Upon graduating nursing school, Roberta went on to first work inside the hospital as a psychiatric nurse, then as a registered nurse, primarily doing home health care, and finally as a nursing home supervisor.
Roberta was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, loyal and trusted friend, devoted, faithful, and participating member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral, Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania, and an active member of both the Plains American Legion Post 558 and the Polish American Veterans Club, located in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre.
Funeral services will be held at Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Township, on Monday with viewing and funeral service scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Immediately following, an interment service will be held in Hanover Green Cemetery, 689 Main Road, Wilkes-Barre. Services will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Innocent Neil of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church.
Memorial donations in her memory may be made to Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 401 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705.
