Roberto C. Vazquez, 8/15/1933 – 11/25/2025 Springfield. Roberto C. Vazquez, 92, of Springfield died Tuesday November 25, 2025, at his residence. Born in the coastal town of Loiza, Puerto Rico, near the neighborhood district of Loiza Aldea, son of the late Julio C. Vazquez and Elisa Charriez Salgado. He lived in Springfield for 57 years. Roberto was a retired gas utility meter technician working for Baystate Gas Co. for several decades. His devoted wife, daughter, mother and grandmother, Selenia A. Vazquez, passed away on September 16, 2006. He was also predeceased by brothers, Manuel Salgado and Julian Vazquez, a sister, Mercedes Hercules and a son Rolando Vazquez. He leaves behind his son Roberto Vazquez Jr., and daughters Elizabeth Kendall and Nancy Jones, three brothers Sam Salgado, Frank Salgado & Emilio Vazquez and two sisters Nora Arroyo and Miriam Vazquez, two grandsons, six granddaughters, six great grandsons, six great granddaughters along with a great granddaughter and a great grandson arriving soon who will know of him. Sons and Daughters-in laws and over fifteen nieces & nephews. Roberto was a devoted Christian and a member of the Jehovah Witness faith for over sixty years. His faith was his lighthouse that helped so many. Roberto, as a novice swimmer, had no fear of any ocean or sea. His ultimate enjoyment and pastime were gardening, traveling and deep fishing anytime, anywhere with anyone regardless of the season!!! Many will remember the great adventures and stories forever. He will be deeply missed. A Calling Hour will be held Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 2pm – 3pm at Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center,1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, followed by Words of Remembrance at 3pm.
