Charles "Buddy" Harold Solock, Jr., of Chicopee, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
Born on June 12, 1953, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Buddy was the son of the late Charles H. Solock, Sr. and J. Elizabeth (Gramelspacher) Solock. He is survived by his brother, John "Jack" Solock, and is reunited in heaven with his sister Mary Williams and his brother, Joseph Solock.
More than anything, though, Buddy cherished his family, which were at the very center of his life. He is survived by his two devoted children, Jennifer Solock Fleury and her husband Dave, and their three children, Matthew, Michael and Collin of Thornton, PA, and Tammy Sawicki and her husband Alexander of Chicopee and their three children, Samantha, Taylor, and Alexandra. He is also survived by his former wife, Beverly Shone Solock, and his best friend, Bob Barnowski, whose companionship brought him laughter and joy.
He attended Chicopee Comprehensive High School, obtained his GED, and later attended Springfield Technical Community College.
Buddy loved spending weekends playing card and dice games with friends, taking long rides, and enjoying life with his grandchildren. Whether he was cheering them on at sporting events, teaching them to drive, or sewing for them, his patience, encouragement, and playful spirit will always be remembered.
Buddy dedicated over 30 years to American Airlines, proudly serving as a Crew Chief before retiring. He was respected by colleagues for his leadership and professionalism in his work. He found great joy in working with his hands and loved to always have a project or two going on.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a graveside service and burial on Friday, December 5, 2025, meeting directly at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker Street, Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Buddy's memory to a
charity of one's choice. Buddy will be remembered for his hardworking spirit and the deep love he shared with his family. His kindness, humor, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
